Our Scholarship Review Committee (SRC) is comprised of members from our board of directors as well as other  volunteers from the community.  Katie Auker and Greg Ernst are our board members on the SRC; read their bios on our Board of Directors page.  The other community members on the SRC are:

Moira Fulton is on the faculty at Highline Community College, where she has worked for twenty years with students who are building their reading skills so that they may enroll in college level courses.  She teaches reading and study skill courses for college and college prep students.  She has a BA in English from the University of Iowa and a M.Ed from the University of Vermont.  Her greatest joy comes from working with 'pioneers', students who are the first in their families to attend college.

Jennifer Gouine is secretary for the Scholarship Review Committee. Jennifer has been Senior Academic Counselor in the University of Washington's Department of Bioengineering since 2001 and enjoys helping students realize their academic goals. Jennifer is an English as a Second Language tutor and plans to teach English with the Peace Corps. She has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from San Jose State University and a Master of Arts in Speech Communication from the University of Illinois.

Sasha Lotas is a graduate student in the Learning Sciences program at the University of Washington's College of Education.  Sasha also works at North Seattle Community College as a writing instructor and is an active tutor with SEA students.  Before embarking on her graduate work, she spent ten years in Washington DC developing and managing literacy programs, as well as postsecondary preparation programs for adults and teenagers without high school degrees.

Jamie Moshin is a Ph.D. student at the University of Washington, where he studies Communication, looking at how notions of power shape race, ethnicity, and gender. He is also employed as an Instructor of Communication at Shoreline Community College. Before returning to school, Jamie worked for three years as Development Coordinator for a nonprofit serving abused youth in Portland, Oregon; he worked on all aspects of fund-raising, from event planning to public speaking. As an avid believer in the importance of education, Jamie is pleased to be helping local youth get a much-deserved shot at bettering themselves.

Laura Pritchard
MNPL, is currently the Executive Director of the
University District Service Providers Alliance.   She co-chairs the Youth & Young Adult Committee of the Seattle/King County Coalition on Homelessness.  Laura teaches approximately 30 sessions of Homelessness 101
annually, as well as a class about youth homelessness at the University of Washington.  She worked as a direct service staff member for eight years in programs providing basic needs and transitional support to homeless and street-involved youth and young adults in Seattle.

Heather Rastovac is a senior at the University of Washington where she will graduate this year with a BA in anthropology and near eastern languages and cultures.  Heather was one of the first students enrolled in SEA's college success program. 

Jennifer Wooten is the Coordinator of our Book Access Program. Jennifer graduated from University of Washington in 2001 with a B.A. and graduated from Florida State University in 2007 with a M.A. in Information Studies. She has been working for the King County Library System for over 6 years, and in 2007 started her position as the Teen Librarian at the Newport Way Library.  Jennifer has and continues to volunteer for several organizations and also loves to bike (mountain biking and road biking), play ice hockey, and ride motorcycles.
